Why ‘The Great Wild’ Studio?

Between the head and feet of any given person is a billion miles of unexplored wilderness.

You were wild once here. Don’t ever let them tame you.

This is the alchemical symbol for ‘Earth’, and I use it as a logo for The Great Wild Studio to honour the origin of the word logos from Greek, meaning the divine reason implicit in the cosmos. This symbol represents my commitment to aligning with the rhythms of the planet by only supporting ethical and eco-sustainable practices and ingredients.

In the wild, diverse expressions and creative adaptations are found everywhere.

‘The great wild’ can be both an awe-inspiring physical place and a conceptual psychological terrain we sojourn together in a session. It is a place where we confront shadows to challenge perceptions and transform distressing patterns.

The Great Wild Studio is a space to bravely explore the wilds of your body and mind, using biological and psychological lenses to inspire your reflections. From the role of the nervous system in developing resilience to poly-vagal exercises for self-help, The Great Wild Studio is a wellness space geared towards inner and outer world discovery, balance, and synchrony.

There is a long history of dance being connected to health and ritual, long before it was reduced to a representational art form relegated to professionals. Dance–and any intentional movement–is multimodal and creative in nature, allowing us to express emotional electricity while also improving cognition, mood, and physical health. This doesn’t mean you have to learn ballet, far from it; Though you will test your strength, flexibility, and work towards a sustainable health discipline.

My eco-kinetic approach to Dance/Movement Therapy finds a balance between talking and moving in the studio, so we are discovering and co-creating movement that will help you achieve your specific wellness goals. By empowering you through different bodyful techniques like self-touch or knowledge of the olfactory system through aromatherapy, The Great Wild Studio is a place to study sensory expressions that may be healing for you.

If you already find yoga, dance, or exercise therapeutic, I would be happy to introduce you to how these physical practices can be used in the service of your growth and emotional wellness goals. My psychotherapeutic training means using movement to address your particular distress. I specialize in working with artists and youth to build embodied resilience tools and emotional regulation techniques. I also work with nurturing positive self-concept, self-image, and self-empowerment to decrease stress, depression, and generalized anxiety.
